Welcome to the 2016-2017 School Year

Wow! It seems like it has been quite a long time since the last post. I hope everyone has had a great summer and that you are excited for the school year to get underway. This year we have a few new policies and procedures that we will be sharing with you via Open House as well as through letters sent home on the first couple of days.

One notable addition to our program is an app we will be using called, "Remind." Parents and students will be able to stay in the loop with everything happening in our classes such as field trips, schedule changes, project reminders, etc. by receiving text messages or e-mails right to their phone. A sign-up sheet will be sent home to your student on the first day.

Another way we will be sharing information will be through informational meetings that highlight different areas of support for students and parents with an emphasis on transition. These meetings will be held one night a month in the evening starting in October with a different guest speaker or speakers each time.

We will continue to have our monthly social club gatherings starting in September. Most of the meetings will be off-campus and transportation responsibilities will be on the parents or students. These get togethers will typically be held on the last Thursday of each month, but dates may change based on the activity that is planned.
